We’re so excited to finally introduce our newest series with one of our favorite babe’s ever, Taylor Utley.

This girl is one of the sweetest, most genuine, heartfelt people that we have ever met & we love everything that she stands for + everything that she does. Her fashion sense is killer & she’ll wear things that you’ve never thought of putting together but will end up making you want to buy the exact outfit she’s wearing. (we always mess around & say that she could not only pull off wearing a trash bag, but she’ll end up making you want to wear one too, LOL.) But, ultimately the thing that we inspire most about her is her passion for the Lord & how she’s never afraid to proclaim His name & make Him known, rather than herself. Below, we’re going to include a little bit more about her & some of the questions that we asked when interviewing her. + Make sure you go check out her new & updated blog.. it’s adorable!!!

What’s your blog called?

My blog is called Taylor Hayden, even though my last name hasn’t changed yet.. lol But it will soon! I am so excited to start this new blog and this new chapter. Here is the link: http://taylorutley.wixsite.com/blog

How did you start your blog?

I started my first blog back in 2014. It started out as a place where I wrote poems, devotionals from personal bible studies, and a place to kind of journal all of my thoughts. I wasn’t good about posting weekly and I only wrote when I was inspired by something. I had always dreamed of creating a fashion blog because I love styling clothing and playing around with different brands and trends. I didn’t think I had enough money to keep up with the trends or enough collaboration opportunities being from a small town. I also thought people wouldn’t understand why I wanted to be “a blogger” or they wouldn’t care to read it. This year has been one that has brought many changes. God has shown me that I am not someone that fits the mold of having a 9-5 job. I love to create things, capture things, travel, grow, and I crave inspiration. I love these things, and God has shown me that it is ok to step out. I made the decision to stop allowing fear to creep in and limit my abilities and desires. I began to reach out to modeling agencies, boutiques, clothing companies, and really started to grow myself on social media as an influencer. I want to use my platform to do what I love, inspire other people to step out and do what they love. All while giving the glory to God.

What’s your inspo for your blog?

I am a freelance model and my fiance is a videographer/photographer so I feel that I could create some pretty amazing content. My inspiration would have to be lifestyle! I definitely want to incorporate my love for fashion & styling clothing into my posts. I want to model my own style inspiration. The majority of my content will be clothing hauls, DIY’s, seasonal look books, collaborations, videos of who knows what and a few laughs here and there.

Do you have a full time job besides the blog? If so, how do you balance a blog plus a job?

I do! I have a few jobs actually. I love to stay busy! I run a coffee shop with my fiance Noah called Barber Bistro Coffee. Look it up on insta: @BarberBistroCoffee. When I’m not slinging lattes you will find me at the gym. (No I don’t workout) haha. I teach competitive dancers tumbling a few nights a week at a tumbling studio. I also help out with my aunts boutique here in my home town! It can be hard to manage at times but I just bring my laptop with me everywhere I go. It’s also nice that I can treat my coffee shop as an office 😉

Where are you from?

I am from Evansville, Indiana. Dreaming of Southern California.

What’s your favorite drink to get from a coffee shop?

Well this is a hard one… I love pour overs, but my go to drink would be a 6oz capp.

Favorite place to shop?

Oh my. Zara, Topshop, Free People, Urban Outfitters, Brandy Melville. Nasty Gal. I can’t choose one.

Favorite online store?

Brandy Melville or Missguided. I don’t have either of these stores within 1,000 miles of me so these are my GO TO for online shopping.

Lastly, what’s your ultimate goal for the blog?

I want my blog to be a positive and creative environment where women can be inspired. I want my posts to be authentic and raw, not intimidating or unachievable. I don’t want people to see my posts and be jealous or think they cant achieve what I am putting out there. I’m just an overly caffeinated woman who loves clothing and lattes with a mind that never sleeps 🙂

& that’s a wrap for our first feature on the series babes we love! Be sure to stay tuned every month to see who we feature. Also, if you or someone you know has a story, a blog, or anything that you want to make known to the world, email us at joyandjusti.com & we would love to feature you on babes we love!

Just as our goal for this series is to take the eyes off of ourselves & focus on others – go encourage someone who’s taking a chance in this crazy world & straying away from the traditional 9-5. Instead of simply displaying jealousy to someone who has a youtube channel, blog, or is a business owner, go out of your way to encourage & love them in the venture that they’re doing!

We love all you babes & hope you have the greatest day. Till next time..

xo, Joy & Justi

We’re from Southern California, as most of you probably know already! Although we love where we’re from because of all our friends & families are from there/live there — we would be lying if we said there weren’t times when we hate it. Yes, that may sound a little dramatic, but when the only two season’s you ever experience are summer/spring, you eventually get over it. There is nothing better to us than actually feeling like you need to wear a jacket or a sweater; because if you’re anything like us.. you’ll literally wear a sweater/jacket even if it’s 85 degree’s out, just so it feels like fall. Because of this, we felt like it was time for an adventure with some actual seasons.. so we came to New York.

It’s both of our first times in New York + it hasn’t even been 24 hours & we’re already obsessed with it & the vibe. We’re currently staying in Hoboken, NJ and the small town but city feel is something that is unheard of back home! We’ve been tripping out at the fact that you’re able to walk everywhere– like to the grocery store, to get breakfast, or even to Anthropologie, things that would typically take us a 15 minute drive back home.

With all the new stuff that we’re experiencing, we figured that there would be no better thing to do than to explore this beautiful city & see all that it has to offer. + It’s insane to us that everywhere you turn is cute. Like, we just walked around & snapped pictures… without even trying…& everything was cute, like isn’t that unheard of in California?

Fur Jackets are one of the cutest trends right now– we love the fact that they’re so easy to throw on & automatically make it look like you tried. (if you’ve been following our blog for a while, you’d know that we’re huge fans of that!) Joy was going for more of a casual look & it was literally almost effortless to accomplish with a fur jacket.

Taking a basic graphic tee with some simple black jeans + throwing on the fur jacket on top of that make you automatically ready to take on your day while looking like you spent the longest time putting the outfit together. Fur coats automatically make you look dressed up.

Dressing up a fur jacket is just as easy as it is to put together your favorite outfit. Grab a neutral shirt with some super cute booties + a cute chained cross body– you’ll be ready to take on the day/night! They’re the easiest way to add a super cute statement to your outfit that will most definitely keep heads turning!

W E  A R E  H E A D E D  T O . . .

Take a guess . . . .

. . . . and we’ll let you know Monday! haha thats so mean, we know . . . but it’s fun! haha

We are headed to some colder weather, that is for sure. Granted, most of the country is much cooler than Southern California right now, but we are excited to be experiencing ACTUAL fall, in a new place that we both have not been to yet!

So, here are some of our A I R P O R T travel essentials. We’ve both have had our fare share of flying, but this will also be our first time flying together and we can’t wait, because there is bound to be some drama ( surrounding us ) to follow lol

Let the adventures begin. . .

O H & here is some of the ” M U S T  H A V E S “ for the flight . . .

I T E M S ::

> Definitely c a n n o t board a plane without headphones! They are vital to a peaceful flight!

> iPad, its not detrimental, butttttt it keeps us entertained with movies, music, games, ect. & if you get wifi, then you’re golden.

> An extra battery pack. There have been many times that I have found myself stranded at the airport and can’t find ( an open . . . cause everyone hogs them ) an outlet. So frustrating, but these save your life.

> Chapstick. That is self explanatory, especially in the winter. Our skin feels the drrryyy weather in the winter!

> G U M. Yessssss. Must, must, must.

> A book. Now, we’re not huge book girls, but we know a lot of people are and hey, this book ( The Power of When ) is a perfect read! Even we love it L O L

> No matter how good you hair looks when you leave, by the time you arrive . . . something happens and B O O M, messy hair. So more times than not, I wear a ball cap / dad hat! They’re cute, yet comfy and save you some time!

> anddddd lastly, a cozy sweater. This one pictured is D E F S comfy! But it never fails to get chilly on the plane, so don’t forget something to cozy up with . . . or to use as a pillow in case of an emergency ( aka. wanting a pillow and not having one haha )

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.

Using an electric mixer or stand mixer, combine the first 5 ingredients and beat until thoroughly blended.

Freeze the mixture in the bowl or in a round candy mold (or ice cube tray) for 30 minutes or more until firm enough to form into balls.

In a medium bowl combine all the coating ingredients and stir together. Set aside.

Using a cookie scoop or your hands, form a ball or mound with the chilled pumpkin cheesecake mixture ( or release from the candy mold). Roll each cheesecake ball in the coating until covered, and place on lined baking sheet.

Re-freeze for 20 minutes or refrigerate until firm, then serve. Store these in the fridge in a covered container.

Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Whisk to combine.

Bring mixture up to a boil, whisking continuously. Once the mixture boils, remove from heat and transfer to a glass container to cool. Once cool, a film may form on the top. Simply remove with a spoon.

Place a lid on the container and store creamer in the fridge. Shake prior to use. If the mixture hardens due to the fat in the coconut milk, simply heat it up in the microwave or on the stove.

How rad are these Y A R N  W A L L  H A N G I N G S ?!

And even better…. they were actually S O easy to make! We put some on rings and some on a dowel rods and they both were super simple!

img_0830 img_0829

Here are the step-by-step instructions ::

Use your dowel rode or ring and simply loop knot the cut piece of yarn and fold it in half, then put it through the ring. Taking the loose ends of the string, we pulled them through the yarn loop and then pulled down. *This is called a lark’s head knot & get used to it cause you will be doing it a million and one times during this DIY hahaha*

Once you’ve got that down, you’re S O L I D! Loop as many pieces of yarn around the dowel and / or ring as you’d like, or to fit your rode or ring! The more the merrier with the amount of yarn, but again, this is so fun because its completely up to you and the look you want to go for!

…and to finish the dowel rode off, we simply tied a string to each end to hang it and its done!

Here is links to all the products we used ::

img_0820 img_0824Annnnnddd V U A L A, it is done and ready to be hung! These are the best, and easiest little original homemade home decor!

Let us know if you make these yourself, and we’d love to see your C R E A T I O N S .
